Modules Delivered:

Let’s Prevent Diabetes – a prevention programme for those who are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes in the future loth.LPD@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk

Let’s Prevent Diabetes

Localities: Currently being delivered throughout the Lothians Face to Face and Virtually.

Face-to-Face: sessions held in varying formats:

o   1 Full day session,

o   3x2 hour sessions,

o   2x3 hour sessions

At varying times of the day, these groups are being delivered in the following locations: East Lothian Community Hospital, Prestonpans Group Practice, McSense Business Park in Dalkeith, Excite Craigswood Leisure Centre, Gracemount Medical Centre.

Virtual Sessions: These follow the 3x 2 hour or 2x 3 hour format and can be accessed through the NHS virtual platform using Smart phones, Tablets and Computers.

Times available: groups are available morning, afternoon, and evening.

DESMOND Newly Diagnosed

Face-to-face: Sessions are one full day from 9am to 4pm are being delivered in the following locations:

East Lothian Community Hospital, McSense Business Park in Dalkeith, Newbattle Medical Practice, St John’s Hospital, Excite Craigswood Leisure Centre, Leith Community Treatment Centre, Pennywell All Care.

 Virtual Sessions: These will follow the 3x 2hour format and can be accessed through the NHS virtual platform using Smart phones, Tablets and Computers.

Currently being piloted, with planning in place to offer these more regularly in the very near future.

Newly approved for use in the Lothians, the team is currently working on a pathway to organise patient access for those who are interested.  The following programs will be available through the Virtual Platform.

o   Let’s Prevent Diabetes: (Prevention of Type 2 Diabetes Education)

o   Baby Steps: (For those diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes)

o   MyDESMOND: (For those newly Diagnosed with Type2 Diabetes)
