Overview
Portsmouth City began running education groups for patients called ‘Starting out with Type 2 diabetes’ over 15 years ago. We then became part of the steering group to form DESMOND which has since been rolled out nationally. We run DESMOND as a 6 hour programme, 3 sessions a month. We can accommodate 10 patients per group and welcome a partner or friend to join them. The day is informative and fun, group education is an integral part of the day. The programme is run by 2 DESMOND trained educators and we also offer this as an educational day for all Health Care Professionals/students who wish to gain an insight into the journey patients are to embark on, living life with diabetes.
